ROXY #RUNSUPYOGA

 

On Saturday 24th October, one-thousand women and girls assembled on Manly Beach today for the Australian stop of ROXY's global outdoor fitness tour, #RUNSUPYOGA.

It was an epic day of fitness and fun, as participants ran, stand-up paddleboarded and stretched during yoga, with the beach as their backdrop.

Olympic Gold Medallist and ROXY team rider Torah Bright, lead the festivities and guided participants through all three activities.

The day kicked off with some sun salutations during a glorious morning yoga class on the sand, guided by ROXY yoga guru Crystal O’Rourke. The yoga session was followed by a 3KM fun run along the foreshore, concluding with a 1KM stand-up paddle (SUP) race at Manly’s picturesque Shelly Beach.

Australia was the 13th stop of the ROXY #RUNSUPYOGA international tour that began in Barcelona, and has spanned to Hawaii, Germany, Belgium, France, England, Canada, USA and Bali.

ROXY #RUNSUPYOGA is one of the largest female-only fitness events to hit Sydney. With more stops planned around the globe, ROXY continues to encourage women to get fit and have fun.

G-STAR X PHARRELL LAUNCH NEW ECO APP

 

Denim brand G-Star RAW has released ‘Battle for Big Blue’, a fun and educational mobile game about ocean pollution.

Based on RAW for the Oceans, a project retrieving plastic from our oceans and transforming it into denim, ‘Battle for Big Blue’ is an artistic impression of ocean clean-up that introduces people to the problem of plastic pollution in a playful, lighthearted way while giving some serious insights into the severity of the problem we face.

Developed by The Rumpus Room, the game sees players travel across the world’s five oceans, collecting as much plastic as possible while dodging dangers. Pharrell Williams, co-designer of the RAW for the Oceans collection, created the sounds, with additional features including challenging friends, or playing against Pharrell himself.

Now in its third season, RAW for the Oceans (a partnership between G-Star, Bionic Yarn, and Parley for the Oceans) has transformed over 2 million single use plastic containers recovered from ocean coastlines into high quality denim jeans, jackets, and ultra soft tee’s and sweats.

‘Battle for Big Blue’ is available for both iOS and Android mobile/tablet.

BONDS GETS ACTIVE WITH IGGY AZALEA


Our fun and fearless Bonds ambassador with Lorna Grey from Cosmo, caught up earlier this month to talk about her famous curves and to celebrate the new Bonds fitness range. 

 

Iggy Azalea’s butt is a thing of wonder. Pervy? For sure. But we’re going there. We caught up with the Bonds ambassador to talk fitness, her butt (yes, yes, we ARE pervs) and having a love/hate relationship with her bod. Here are 5 surprising(ish) things about Iggy’s fitness regime.

1. “I HATE the gym. It’s really hard for me to feel motivated when I’m in there by myself, and when I go with a friend, we seem to just chat and not actually do any work. I have two horses, so I normally go riding for about two and a half hours each day. I love horse riding. It takes a lot of core strength.”

2. “I’m really bad at making sure I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s something I’m trying to fix. It can actually be so hard to make you take care of yourself. You just get so busy that, by the time you get to the end of the day, you realise you maybe skipped the last three meals?”

3. “Horse riding definitely helps keep my butt firm. I think it’s really hard to keep my thighs toned – I’m sure a lot of women have the same struggle. It’s just a constant battle of cellulite that gets worse each year. So it’s good to ride horses because you stay in the squat position for a long time, which helps keep the lower half of your body toned.”

4. “My friends give me a LOT of body confidence. We’re all totally different body types, and heights, and shapes – it’s awesome! When we go shopping together, and you try something on, and they tell you, “you look hot!”, you definitely believe them. Especially when I’m criticised for what I’m wearing. If my friends tell me my outfit looks good, it always boosts my confidence. It’s really important to have a group of girlfriends around to make you feel good.”

5. “I definitely have a love/hate relationship with my body, like every other woman in the world. Some days I absolutely love my body and then other days I pick it apart and feel self-conscious about it. Especially my legs and my butt! Which is funny because they’re probably the most celebrated parts of my body. And then there are days where I just don’t want to put on a bikini, at all. It tough to always feel confident, I mean, women’s bodies fluctuate a lot. So it’s been an ongoing learning process for me. When I was younger, I tried some modelling and I got criticism about the size of my hips and my thighs, which I saw as a negative. But then I started to feel like I got attention because of that, and it became something that I liked about myself.”
